USS Slater DE 766

To: USS Hammerberg Alumni Date: August, 2022 Hi to the USS Hammerberg Alumni, We, my son Dave and I are planning a reunion that is going to be fun for all ages. So, we would like to encourage you to bring your family with you. We went to Albany to see the area for ourselves and had a great time. The Volunteers of the USS Slater extended us a fantastic tour of the WWII ship, which is now a museum, we will be going on Tuesday when the ship is not open to the public and also have a box lunch. The work in restoration is fantastic and all you old salts and family will appreciate the hard work. We will also be taking a cruise on the Hudson River on the Dutch Apple Cruise, where we will have dinner before heading back to the Hotel. Our last reunion was a lot of fun thanks to Mark and Eileen Shipe. And I thank them for hosting again. By the way, planning a reunion is not that difficult, Mike Hammerberg keeps our roster and is a big help with the roster and labels, Mark and Eileen are always available for questions and funding the mailings etc. Past members who have had reunions and are a source for help are David Morzek, Neil and Jackie Hamann, and me. Basic planning information: Not during Father’s Day, Sunday to Thursday departure in June. Research things to do. Find a hotel that can provide a meeting room and allow snacks n beverages from am to pm. Try to keep the hotel cost as low as possible so more can attend. Determine if a bus is needed and cost. The USS Hammerberg fund may cover part or all of the fee. Research and plan the dinner on Wednesday night. In the past the host have provided name tags, table decorations. Thanks for your reply, Barry and Dave Campbell |
